Biggest egg ever sold at auction

 Sotheby's International Auctions announced that an elephant bird egg, which is about a thousand years old, is being offered for sale for an estimated price of $40,000-$60,000, and the auction is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 28, as part of "Geeks Week" to display  Rare scientific items.

 The egg belongs to the elephant bird, a genus of a giant extinct bird that lived on the island of Madagascar, and its size and weight are as follows: 12 x 9 inches (30.5 x 22.9 cm).  10 inches (26.3 cm) in diameter.  3 pounds, 15.5 ounces (1804 grams), according to Sotheby's.

 The egg for sale comes in a yellowish-white sandy color, plus an X-ray revealed some cracks that have been repaired and are difficult to see with the naked eye.

It is worth noting that the elephant bird is a large and incapable of flight, which existed in Madagascar until the 17th century.

 This family is divided into two species: Aepyornis and Mullerornis, and the largest of them was Aepyornis, which reached four meters in length and weighed up to 400 kilograms.
